What is the cheapest form of heating for my hair salon?

I have just had 2 storage heaters removed out of the salon as the heat doesn't last all day and uses electric all night to heat them up. What heaters use less electric and will keep salon warm for clients? Any advice welcome. What is the cheapest form of heating for my hair salon?
Gas is the cheapest form of heating (about 4 pence per unit (kwh)). Electricity costs about 12p per unit.

The electicity used by the overnight storage heaters is discounted and costs about 8p per unit.

Assuming you don't have gas, the storage heaters would have been the best bet (as they run on the cheaper electricity). You could get a normal electric heater to 'top-up' the warmth in the afternoon.

The only option left is be to buy normal electric heaters to heat throughout the day.

There's no point in buying 'efficient' or 'cheap to run' heaters as all heaters are 100% efficient - it's just that you only get out what you put in.

So a 1kw heater will cost 12p per hour and a 3kw heater will cost 36p per hour. But the question is will a 1kw heater be enough to keep you warm?

Best to go for the 3kw one and make sure it has a thermostat - this will cut out automatically when the room gets up to your desired temperature. What is the cheapest form of heating for my hair salon?
One of the first steps is insulation. If you have good windows, doors and the rooms are sealed to the outdoors, you will not need to heat so much. In fact, peoples bodies, the hair dryers and your activity with good insulation may not require too much added heating. On the other hand, the best heater I know is fire, and a cast iron stove that burns slow and keeps real hot...is unbeatable. May not be good for a hair salon but certainly does the job!!

Good luck.
Argos do some flat elecrical heaters - they are really slim, quite stylish, heat up quickly, are cheap and cost very little to run. I ue them in my business and just have one of those portble halogen ceramic heaters (from poundstretcher) for extra cold days.
My local salon uses calor gas heaters and it always snug and cosy in there
